John Leung, better known as achi, is an alternative Hip-Hop rapper and producer recognized for his introspective lyricism, using music to reflect on everyday life and the world around him. Shaped by his time in Hong Kong and London, achi blends rap with genre-fluid production, fusing R&B, hyperpop, and jazz fusion to craft a sound uniquely his own. Inspired by artists like BROCKHAMPTON, Toro y Moi, and Flying Lotus, he debuted with SKETCHTAPE VOL.1 (2023), followed by A Brief Moment of You, an EP born from a beachside artist residency featuring global collaborations. His latest album, OBSERVANT, further solidifies his genre-defying approach, exploring his upbringing between East and West. achi’s live set features a three-piece fusion jazz band, incorporating improvisation and UK jazz elements alongside his signature rap style. He has performed at Bangkok Music City Festival, the NODES series, CT Fest and various Hong Kong live house venues.
